SA 103 Power Amplifier

The PLINIUS SA-103 stereo amplifier is a Class A amplifier capable of delivering up to 125 watts per channel in both Class A and Class AB mode. Bridged Mono RCA and Balanced Mono XLR circuits used in the SA103 allow Monoblock operation delivering in excess of 400 watts.

This amplifier gets you into serious listening without breaking the bank. The SA103 are often sold as monoblocks and if you want to do that, and you have time to organise it, the factory can ensure they are made consecutively.

Plinius' distinctive heatsink profile has allowed us to maintain the classic look and produce an amplifier capable of operating in Class A without the use of troublesome fans or other methods used for cooling. Its 500mm by 455mm footprint belies the power it produces and these units sit comfortably beside big speakers, understating somewhat their contribution to the speakers' performance.

As with all Plinius amplifiers, premium components have been used throughout. There is the addition of a 12 Volt trigger which will allow integration into a semi automated system.

These units are at the top of the Plinius range, sitting right under the SA Reference amplifier. With responsiveness and control they faithfully support your speakers as they seek to replicate the original artists' efforts for your listening pleasure.

Class A/Class AB operation
In Class A distortion is minimised for ultimate sonic performance. In Class AB, performance is still exceptional but power consumption and heat output are reduced.

Amplifier Configuration Selector (ACS) switch
The rear panel ACS switch allows for the amplifier to be configured for Stereo RCA, Bridged Mono RCA, Stereo XLR or Bridged Mono XLR modes. In Bridged Mono mode, the amplifier operates in true balanced configuration from input to output.

Ecologic Control
The amplifier can automatically switch from Class A to Class AB when unused after a listening session. This user adjustable feature is set to 30 minutes during manufacture and can also be switched off entirely.

Remote Trigger Input
When connected to a preamplifier trigger output, the amplifier will switch out of Mute and into Class A Mode ready for use when the preamplifier is taken out of standby.

Ground Lift Switch
This allows for the signal ground to be isolated from the main chassis earth. This can assist in resolving unwanted ground loops or hum due to duplicate ground paths in some systems.

WBT and Neutrik Connectors
High quality WBT RCA and Neutrik XLR input connectors are fitted along with WBT output speaker terminals to ensure a low distortion interface between your cables and the amplifier.

Auricap Capacitors
